Jenolan Fun History Tours - 'Orient Express'

Saturday 5th to Sunday 6th December
No fancy trains on our fun and fascinating “Orient Express” tours! Years ago, getting into the magical Orient and Temple of Baal Caves was a long & difficult journey. Then, workmen tunneled an ‘express’ route into the Orient Cave creating what was “the longest manmade tourist access tunnel in the Southern Hemisphere”. Although he died in 1934, let ‘Oliver Trickett’, (entertainingly portrayed by David Hay) guide you through the Binoomea Cut into the unequalled Orient Cave.

Katoomba Late Night Shopping

Building on the success of last year's late night shopping...Katoomba businesses have joined together with the Katoomba Chamber of Commerce and Community, along with Cittaslow and Slow Food...to offer three late night shopping events in December.

Thursdays 3rd, 10th and 17th of December are the dates to remember....loads of businesses in Waratah and Katoomba Streets, as well as Old Bathurst Road will be trading until 8pm.

This years' festivities will see more cafes and restaurants open, with giveaways of hampers - filled with products from the local area - all you have to do to be in the running for these is to shop locally. It makes perfect sense.  Avoid the travel and the crowds - feel good about keeping your dollar close to home...everybody benefits.

The last of the shopping nights on Thursday 17th December, will see the spirit of the festive season celebrated with fun, free, family activities in the grounds of The Carrington.  Carol singers, Santa, Buskers and more.

Mark it on your calendar now...Thursdays in December...Christmas shopping nights in Katoomba...3rd, 10th and 17th...

Different and special gifts can all be found in and around Leura Mall and at good prices too. This year the shops are staying open late on 18, 19 and 20 December while The Toy Shop is open 9am to 5.30 in November then from the last week of November to Christmas they are open until 8pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You can buy online or order by phone. It’s so much easier to get around the different shops in the smaller area for a spree and the village shops are so friendly and helpful.
