 March

March is a big month on the Central Coast - and these major events are just a taste of what’s in store!

It has been announced that all efforts will be made to scuttle the Ex-HMAS Adelaide on the morning of Saturday 27th March 2010. This date is tentative, as the scuttling is a highly weather-dependent exercise and calm conditions are critical for a successful scuttling. The ship will be anchored approximately 1.87 km off Avoca Beach, where large crowds are expected to gather for optimal viewing.

The 2010 Central Coast Country Music Festival will take place on the 12th, 13th and 14th of March. There will be a variety of performers at venues in the Wyong Shire and at outdoor stages in The Entrance Town Centre precinct, including two exceptionally talented locals – Beccy Cole and Adam Harvey! 2010 will prove to be even better being the festivals tenth anniversary, with over 70 artists performing across the 30 venues.

The Brisbane Water Regatta Festival has something for the whole family at  Ettalong Beach on the weekend of 13th and 14th March. Highlights include performances from groups representing The South Sea Island cultures, stalls selling handmade Australian products, markets, delicious food, plus the feature Outrigger canoe race on Saturday from Ettalong Beach out through the heads or around Lion Island. Sunday sees shorter sprint events around Lion Island.

If you love your sport, you won’t want to miss a minute of the action at Bluetongue Stadium as the Manly Sea Eagles and Newcastle Knights battle in the 2010 rugby league premiership on Saturday 27th March. Grab the family and reserve your seats for a chance to see top-flight rugby league, at one of Australia’s most picturesque stadiums!
