There’s always something to do at The Entrance

The waterfront park hosts a range of free family entertainment at the open air Sails Stage and there are also a range of special events and festivals and fresh locally farmed produce is available at the seaside Farmers Markets on the first and third Saturday.

Take your lunch and stop along the way at one of the picnic and barbecue areas scattered round Tuggerah Lakes. Hire a bike and ride the 12 km cycleway. Or hire a catamaran or small powered boat for a family outing with fishing licenses available from The Entrance Visitor Information Centre.

A wide range of accommodation to suit every budget is available in the region from campsites, cabin parks by the beach, lakeside motels, waterfront apartments, unique B&B’s, beach houses or fully serviced private cabins.

The Carousel

This historic icon has charmed and delighted young and old at The Entrance since 1930.  It has seen a number of owners since its arrival in Australia from France in the early 1900s and is now part of the National Trust classified Haas Family carnival, a family that has 400 years of carnival ancestry.

The carousel, which was built in the late 1800s in Germany, was originally ‘powered’ by a pony but was converted to steam at the turn of the century. It remained steam driven until the 1950s when an old chev engine was installed, and was converted to electricity in the 1970s. Its reed pipe organ, operated by bellows, remained in commission until 1950. Music is now supplied by tape, although the organ front has been restored. The carousel has pride of place on The Entrance waterfront where it is visited by not only today’s children, but by the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents of those children.
