All’s ‘Fair’ @ Carrington

 Excitement is building amongst the residents, with preparations well underway for the annual Carrington Fair to be held in the grounds at 90 Werombi Rd Camden – 3k South West of town.
A much respected icon in the Macarthur region for 120 years, CARRINGTON CARE is a not for profit, charitable, public benevolent institution focusing on Aged and Disabled Care.
Carrington Care now encompasses:
264 Retirement Village residences (1, 2 & 3 bedrooms) for independent over 55’s, 214 Hostel rooms for those who are frail, aged or needing Dementia management, 94 Nursing Home beds for the fully dependent aged or disabled.
Community Care support for over 300 people throughout the Campbelltown, Camden & Wollondilly areas.
With all proceeds going directly to benefit village residents, the Fair has grown to become a wonderful community event with something for all ages.
Open from 10am to 3pm, there are 124 stall holders from the Village and Community; food, music, dance displays, car displays, fire engine display, show rides, pony rides, Elderslie High School farmyard animals and our ever popular train rides.
Raffle prizes drawn at 2pm.

Celebrating and honouring the achievements and pioneering work of Charles Ledger.
On the 28th November 1859 Charles Ledger and his 250 Alpacas, Llamas and Vicunas arrived in Australia, after an epic journey of great hardship and adventure.
Charles ledger was a man of enterprise who had a vision for an Australian Alpaca Industry…..one which has come to fruition.
We would like to invite the public to come and see the beauty, strength and grace that these fabulous animals possess. The Charles Ledger Show will be an interesting, entertaining day with a wonderful atmosphere of the 1800’s, top hats and feathers, beautiful aromas of damper and spit roasting beef, learn the history of alpacas, the Charles Ledger Story, see how far the industry has come and enjoy a wonderful day out at Moss Vale Showground.

Whether it’s outback or country town, mountain range or river valley, discovering new Australian impressions can be inspirational to any artist. The challenge is to record these impressions, without leaving a footprint on the landscape, while simultaneously creating a unique ‘footprint’ on paper, canvas or through sculpture.
Eight female Southern Highland artists have drawn on their own life journey to portray their individual impressions of Australia and its lifestyle, hardships, landscapes and characters.
The artists, Booth, Fronsnova, Levett, McIntyre, Miller, Spencer, Webster & White, invite you to join them at the official opening of the exhibition, from 6.30pm on Friday 17 September, to view and discuss their work and to listen to guest speaker, exceptional local Australian artist Glen Preece.
The exhibition runs daily 10-4, with artists on hand to ‘walk’ you through their individual journey, with the view that you take away a lasting and enjoyable impression of what it means to ‘walk softly on this land’.

The Highlands Theatre Group presents:
Some Enchanted Evening
 Hot on the heels of their last production A Chorus Of Disapproval, the Highlands Theatre Group is pleased to announce its next offering – the Rodgers and Hammerstein hit musical Some Enchanted Evening.
Some Enchanted Evening is a cross between a musical and a concert, featuring all the well known songs from several Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals including Oklahoma, South Pacific, The Sound Of Music, The King And I and Carousel. Act One starts ‘backstage’ as the performers casually interweave the songs into the preparations before opening night. As the performers move the 'backstage props' off stage and ditch their bath robes for ball gowns, the setting transforms into opening night. Act Two continues with all the familiar songs we know and love.
The show is directed by Barbara Handley who has directed numerous productions for the HTG including Les Miserables and most recently The Baker’s Wife. Musical Direction is a collaborative effort between Kerith Fowles and Ann Clipsham, both of whom also worked with Barbara and shared musical direction on the Baker’s Wife. Barbara was drawn to this show as she was keen to showcase some of the "wonderful voices we have here in the Southern Highlands." According to HTG publicity officer Nicole Freeman, “the harmonies are beautiful and will be a real treat."

Tulip Time in 2010 celebrates its Golden Jubilee 50th Anniversary and invites you to come and join in our party! The 59th Lilac City Festival - 2nd - 4th October 2010
 On the long weekend of the 2nd Oct – 4th Oct, Goulburn, Australia’s oldest inland city, celebrates its 59th Lilac City Festival. The Festival is the longest
continuous running Festival in
Australia. As Goulburn welcomes Spring, most of the events are based around Belmore Park, in the centre of town.
For three days there is an abundance of events and entertainment for adults and children. The official opening at Belmore Park is on Saturday 2nd October at 1.30pm. Scarecrow competition after the opening and free children's entertainment in the morning. On Saturday night there is a spectacular fireworks display and entertainment. On Sunday, the highlights are a street procession, doll, bear and craft fair. Entry to these events are free.
On Sunday there is a Men's Open Golf Championship at Tully Park Golf Club. There will be historic Silent Films with Piano music in the background.
Mondays’ highlights are an Irish Folk Band and Dancers, Pet Parade and an auction after the prize ceremony.
