21st Bellingen Jazz and Blues Festival
The Bellingen Jazz and Blues Festival, which
began in 1990, provides three days of live music
designed to present a cross-section of jazz and
blues styles performed by the best musicians
available. The aim is to provide a program
containing “something for everyone”. Staged
in Bellingen, with its pristine river and historic
streetscape, the Festival presents around 35
performances in various centrally-located venues
over three days. The venues include the Federal
Hotel, the Memorial Hall, Council Grounds and
the Bellingen Community Markets The spread
and diversity of these locations creates variety
and ensures a vibrant, community atmosphere.
The town buzzes with activity. There is jazz in
the pub and in the park beside the council
chambers, intimate jams in small venues, and
late night grooves in clubs. The hallmark event
is on Sunday with ‘Jazz by the Riverside’ which
brings thousands of people together to enjoy
wonderful music and picnic on the banks of the
Bellinger River. Local eateries and organised food
stalls provide a wide range of cuisine, adding
an extra dimension to the day and encouraging
people to stay in town for longer to enjoy the
music.
There’s an endless variety of things to do
and places to see in the Great Lakes and at
this time of Year the weather is perfect for
exploring. Enjoy magnificent views from an
abundance of lookouts located in the region,
take walks through pristine rainforests,
National Parks and stretches of long sandy
beaches. Take a wander through local
galleries displaying a range of talent, visit
local museums and discover the wealth of
history the Great Lakes have to offer.
