And the Winner is …VINTAGE FAIR!

The popular sustainable shopping village, Vintage Fair, an arm of Fairhaven Services at Point Clare, won the prestigious 2017 Excellence in Social Enterprise Award at the Gosford/Erina and Coastal Business Chamber Awards on Saturday night.

The eclectic shopping destination on Brisbane Water Drive features a thriving op shop, fully catalogued second hand bookstore, upcycled funky gift store, plant nursery, used furniture barn and the popular Fare Cravin’ Café.

“We are thrilled to receive this award on behalf of our team who upcycle, restore and create bespoke homewares and made-to-order recycled pallet furniture in a supported employment environment. They are delighted – it means so much to our whole team!” said Monique Cardon, CEO.
Vintage Fair provides an innovative and creative outlet for people living with disability, volunteers and staff. The success of the social enterprise has seen it evolve over the past three years from a traditional op shop to a collective of contemporary retail spaces, recrafting, reinventing and restoring donated items and reducing landfill.

“It is great to see a local charity recognised in this way”, said Jodie Frost-Foster, Social Innovation Manager, and the creative vision behind the initiative.
“The Gosford Tiny Homes project and The Coast Bar and Restaurant have each commissioned pallet furniture, Better Homes and Gardens had us build the entrance feature for their Expo at Sydney Showground, and we have had pop up shops at Westfield in Tuggerah and are currently doing a roaring trade at Erina Fair. We are a local charity, established for over 50 years and still pushing the envelope with innovation.”

Vintage Fair is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00am. The Fare Cravin’ café is open 7 days.  If you would like to de-clutter and donate, all welcome. There is a pick-up service for heavier items.

Fairhaven Services has been providing supports and services to people with disabilities on the Central Coast since 1962. Vintage Fair is the retail precinct at Fairhaven’s Point Clare site, featuring Fare Cravin’ café, op shop, second hand book shop, furniture barn, upcycling store and destash shed.

They host regular events, markets and workshops to better engage with the awesome community in an open and inclusive way. These events also serve to drive awareness of their cause, and play an important role in their continual fundraising efforts.
